EXTERNAL RESOURCES

  • Stony Brook Pre-Health Advising Website
For students at all points of their pre-medical journey, the Pre-Health office has many resources to help you, from course scheduling to personalized advice in the application process to "What the heck am I supposed to be doing right now?" They also offer a course about preparing for medical school under the code "ADV 201," so if you ever have room for one more class, it's really helpful. Schedule your appointment at E-3110 in the Melville Library today!

  • AAMC Quick Answers (PDF)
This booklet, from the Association of American Medical Colleges itself, has a ton of information about pre-med. It goes through frequently inquired topics such as considering medicine, how to ask to shadow doctors, how to use a gap year, the application process, financing medical school, and what medical school is like. Some of the statistics may be a little outdated since the booklet was made in 2013, so for more updated information, check out the AAMC Website's Fact Sheets.

  • e-MCAT
AAMC's official MCAT questions from previous tests. Though questions from the older tests have been cleared ever since the new MCAT, it has an official MCAT 2015 Sample test as well as various question packs to help you see what the question style of the actual MCAT will be like.

  • Stony Brook Career Center and Stony Brook Handshake
Although it is still under construction, the Career Center offers amazing opportunities for paid and volunteer internships through its Handshake website. Feel free to visit the Career Center, located along the Zebra Path connected to the library (around the corner from the university bookstore), to learn more about possible positions in research, clinical work, etc.

  • M Prep MCAT Question of the Day
Studying for the MCAT can be as easy as one question a day. This website puts up a new question on its main page every day, and also lets you go through its database of previous questions. Try setting it as a home page or one of the opening tabs for your browser and see how you do!
